Case Study

Client background

Bibendum wines have been running the Wine Options competition with great success over the past four years, however, this year they wanted to use interaction to provide a more modern and entertaining quiz night.

They contacted IML in need of an interactive quiz that would promise a challenging and exciting evenings entertainment.

Solution

IML customised a unique quiz incorporating a variety of different question formats, such as multiple choice and fastest finger first.

The quiz was further customised with the Bibendum Wines and Comic Relief logos displayed on each question slide.

Event

With Jancis Robinson and Willie Lebus as quizmasters, the evening kicked off with fifty teams of four, each named after a Chateau answering a series of questions about wine they had tasted. A multiple choice question appeared on the screen in front of them and delegates answered by simply pressing 1, 2, 3 or 4 on the IML keypad Communicator.

As the evening continued, IML introduced a variety of different question formats into the quiz. At one stage, when delegates were asked: "What percentage of all wine sold by volume in the UK is now from Australia?"   Delegates keyed their own answer into the Communicator, rather than choosing from a multiple choice format.

IML also incorporated their Text Response software into the quiz to provide a 'Have I Got News For You, Complete the Phrase…” Question format. Delegates completed the phrase using the text function of the Communicator, keying in their answers in the same way as they would send a text message from a mobile phone. This format proved very popular with the guests who found it very amusing and entertaining.

The quiz ended with a ‘fastest finger first on the buzzer’ tiebreaker round to determine the winning team.

All results were displayed instantly on a specially customised scoreboard that appeared at intervals throughout the quiz.
