Case Study

Background:

The DIFC Week's annual programme of conferences is the must-attend meeting for the region.   The 3 day event brings together prominent finance industry business and government leaders from around the world to share their perspectives on wide-ranging topics that impact the economy in the region.

Event:

The DIFC employed IML, experts in interactive technology, to ensure the session remained highly interactive, giving everyone the opportunity to share knowledge, network and exchange views.

IML were used throughout the DIFC Summit, a gathering of the leaders of Arab family businesses, to gather information and lay the groundwork for research and innovative business solutions.

Questions were asked throughout the presentations with delegates inputting their answers into the IML Communicator keypads.   Results were immediately shown live on-screen generating fresh debate on economic and financial issues and challenges facing the region, what’s happening in the current climate and what the major challenges will be faced in the future.

In addition, the use of IML’s enotes laptop based system encouraged each table to brainstorm and work together as a group to share ideas.

Each table had a wireless enotes laptop into which they could type their group’s comments .   The messages from all tables were then sent immediately to a main server laptop where they could be quickly reviewed, edited and displayed live to the audience.

Susan Ehtesham, Director of Conferences and Events for the DIFC said "By incorporating the IML Keypads and enotes laptop technologies the participants were energised and actively engaged in the town hall style meeting. The instant results stimulated more in depth dialogue about what is happening in the market and provided a great way to share concerns and ideas"

The IML keypads were also put to great use in the DIFC Forum.   This was a much bigger session looking at important issues of the Gulf economy, emerging markets and new investments possibilities in the region’s finance and business landscape.

The instant feedback formed an integral part of the session, giving everyone an opportunity to share their views, giving an immediate feel for what’s happening and the areas of concern for the future.

The moderators could use the immediacy of the results to ensure a more structured debate based around the feedback and respond spontaneously to the issues raised by the audience.

Testimonial

“IML provided a large amount of support in the run up to the event to ensure that the system was used to its best advantage and consistently throughout the events. As a result the sessions were highly interactive. It added a great deal of value to the event.”
